Sabah's developers asked to
comply with laws

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's property developers were reminded to comply with the
state's laws and not encroach into open spaces and riverine reserves.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman said he did not want to see
developers using children's playgrounds and parks for their projects.
"On their part, the relevant authorities must not compromise on this and
they must ensure that developers are toeing the line before approving any
development plans," he said.
Musa said this following a joint briefing by Syarikat Perumahan Negara
Berhad (SPNB) and Sabah Housing Development Board on the status of the
development of some 31,000 units of affordable homes throughout Sabah in his
office at Wisma Innoprise on Friday.
"We have to be firm on this matter because non-compliance is one of the
factors causing massive surface runoffs, overflowing drains and eventually
floods," he added,
At the briefing Musa also called on developers to be more creative and
innovative and move away from outdated designs.
He also reminded SPNB and LPPB of their respective responsibilities of
ensuring that their projects were completed on schedule and ensure that the
quality of the work was maintained.
"These housing projects must be completed on time so that the people can
benefit from them," he said.
