Developer to inspect condo’s top floor units

22/11/2007 The Star

THE developer of the Mutiara Aseania Con-dominium in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam, will inspect all 12 top floor units of Block F following the partial collapse of the ceiling of one of the units during a downpour.

Aseania Development Sdn Bhd general manager Harun Din said they wanted to ensure that such an incident would not recur.

The incident last Wednesday caused two units to be flooded in ankle-deep water when rain water, which collected above the ceiling, gushed into the building.

Residents claimed that the ceiling collapsed due to the weight of the collected rainwater that dripped from a leaky roof.

Harun, however, said the roof was not leaking.

“Unfortunately some rainwater managed to seep in between joints of the roof. I hope the residents will be patient while waiting for the inspection and repairs to be done,” he said.

He said works to repair the ceiling began last Saturday and were due to be completed by next week.

The owner of the unit where the ceiling collapse, Suhaili Azali, 32, said the rainwater caused damage to all his furniture and electrical appliances.
