Adopt holistic approach to
building, developers urged

KUALA LUMPUR: Property developers should have the integrity and social
consciousness to produce quality developments as they are the “tangible”
nation builders, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The Deputy Prime Minister said it was important for developers to adopt a
holistic approach to development. Without it, they may end up with nice
beautiful buildings that are not functional, or worse a breeding ground for
crime.
“In a successful development, there is a direct correlation between design
and business. It is thus important that when developers plan, they should
not only consider design, layout and plan, but also the operational side of
it.
“The value of a property is derived from not only location, but also the
reputation of the property developer and its track record,” he said during a
ceremony to hand over keys to property owners at TTDI Plaza here yesterday.
Citing TTDI Development Sdn Bhd as a reputable developer, Najib urged other
industry players to create a harmonious balance in their projects so that
the community living there would reflect the “Bangsa Malaysia Jiwa Negara”
spirit.
He added that multi-racial Malaysians brought together in pleasant
communities would eventually think of themselves as Malaysians, rather than
Malay, Chinese or Indian.
Also present at the event was Najib's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who
later received a cheque for RM30,000 from TTDI Development Sdn Bhd chairman
Tan Sri Datuk Seri S.M. Nasimuddin S.M. Amin for the Association of Wives of
Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
An additional RM30,000 was also presented from Nasimuddin to Star
Publications (M) Bhd group chief editor Michael Aeria in aid of the flood
victims under The Star's “Help a Family Campaign”. |
