KLANG: The magistrate’s court here has extended by five days the remand of a
man, who had masqueraded as a lawyer in 2004.
Dressed in a frayed T-shirt, the bearded and shaggy-haired man was brought
to court in handcuffs at about 2pm yesterday.
Magistrate Mujib Saroji issued an order for the man to be remanded until
March 26.

(with his hands covering his face) at the Klang court yesterday.
The man, who is in his 40s, had fooled many by posing as a lawyer and even
made court appearances.
He had represented several clients and mentioned cases in the Shah Alam High
Court.
He also successfully applied for bail in the Klang Sessions Court for an
accused in a rape case.
He was arrested last Thursday in Alor Star during his wedding ceremony and
was first remanded for five days.
According to Klang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rodwan Mohd Yusof, the remand was
being extended, as more time was needed for the investigations on the man,
who was also wanted in Kuala Lumpur and Sentul.
“We do not know yet whether he’s wanted for impersonation or other things in
these places,” he said.
The man is being investigated under Section 419 of the Penal Code for
impersonation.
Meanwhile while waiting to be brought into the courtroom, the man chided
lawyer Gerard Lazarus over the statements made by the latter about him to
the media.
He told Lazarus, who had approached him to clarify some things, that he
should not have spoken about him to the media without his permission.
Lazarus replied that he had merely made general statements |
