Landowners lodge report over name change

IPOH: A group of landowners were shocked to discover that their plot of 1.6ha at Fair Park here is no longer in their name.

The group’s spokesman Phuan Kok Wah, 59, said the matter was discovered after one of the owners did a search at the Land and Mines Department (PTG) last month.

“I bought the land in 1978 and I never sold it to anyone.

“I am puzzled how the ownership of the land could have changed without my knowledge,” Phuan said.

Speaking at a press conference called by Simpang Pulai assemblyman Alex Chan Chin Chee, Phuan said their land was now under another man’s name.

“We do not know who the new owner is,” he claimed.

Phuan added that when the owners complained to department, they were told to lodge a police report.

Several owners had lodged police reports at the Sungai Senam police station here.
