Residents act to curb the threat
22/03/2007 The Star  by Stuart Michael

BANDAR Country Homes Residents Association (BCHRA) should be looked upon as an example when it comes to fighting the dengue menace.

BCHRA has launched the M3 Combi programme which involves its members going from house to house to distribute abate and pamphlets, checking for mosquito larvae and giving tips on how to prevent mosquitoes from breeding at their homes.

Preventive measure: Nursebah (with hat), Soong (right) and another member distributing pamphlets to residents of Dahlia Apartments in Bandar Country Homes.
Rawang assemblyman Datuk Tang See Hang had announced that there were 10 cases reported in Bandar Country Homes in Rawang over the last three months.

BCHRA M3 Combi Programme chairman Nursebah Rahamat said during a routine check together with health officers from the Gombak District Health Office two months ago, the test results on samples collected from the Rajawali Apartments and Dahlia Apartments in Bandar Country Homes confirmed it was the Aedes larvae.

“This was frightening to hear. We also discovered that many people leave their flower pots unturned and drains not cleaned so we came up with an action plan.”

BCHRA chairman Soong Beng Khoon said residents should work with the association’s committee members to ensure that problems were solved as soon as possible.
