Selangor records highest
number of housing complaints

KUALA LUMPUR, TUES:
The Housing and Local Government Ministry received 4,542 complaints from
housebuyers last year and about 45 per cent of them in Selangor.
The ministry’s Monitoring and Enforcement Director Dr G. Parameswaran said
most of the 2,029 complaints in Selangor involved late delivery and that 988
of them had been solved.
Other complaints included the failure of housing developers to observe the
law and building regulations, he told a press conference here today.
He said that nationwide, 1,591 of the complaints had been settled.
He also said that from 2003 to December last year, 3,834 cases of default by
the developers to comply with decisions of the Housing Tribunal were
recorded while 680 claims had been dealt with and another 2,970 were either
under investigation or pending trial.
Last year, 384 housing developers were issued with compound fines and 95
cases were brought to the court, Parameswaran. BERNAMA |
