SYARIKAT Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the
Minister of Finance Inc, has successfully revived two housing projects,
including Bandar Pinggiran Subang.
Some 1,482 buyers of the three-room medium-cost apartments have been
suffering since the project was abandoned in late 2001, after the previous
developer faced financial difficulties.
The 600 apartments units were only 80 per cent completed when the project
was abandoned.
SPNB was asked to step in by the Housing and Local Government Ministry.
In a statement issued yesterday, SPNB said that early this month, the Shah
Alam City Council issued the Certificate of Fitness (CF) for Bandar
Pinggiran Subang, more than 10 years after the project was launched in 1997.
It also obtained the CF for the Taman Desaria low-cost housing project in
Petaling Jaya from the Petaling Jaya City Council late last year.
The development of the 882-unit three-block 15-storey apartments by the
previous developer began in 1996 and was originally scheduled for completion
in 1999.
It was only 55 to 65 per cent completed when the project was abandoned.
SPNB said it is currently reviving another stalled project, Taman Kantan
Permai, in Kajang, Selangor, which comprises 792 terrace houses.
At the same time, it is implementing the revival of six more projects
involving 3,554 houses throughout Malaysia. |
