SHAH ALAM: Three men armed with screwdrivers tied up a Datuk and his family
at their house in Saujana Resort before escaping with more than RM200,000
worth of cash and valuables.
The men, believed to be foreigners, also escaped with the Datuk’s loaded
Glock semi-automatic pistol.
The Datuk, an executive chairman of a construction and plantation company,
was in the study of his double-storey bungalow when the men broke in at
3.20am on Tuesday morning.
They had gained entry by prying open the window grill near the front door
and confronted the Datuk, 43, and his two sons, aged 11 and 14, who were
sleeping in their bedrooms.
The men took them to the master bedroom where they woke his wife, in her
40s.
"They then tied the family up with telephone wires."
State CID chief SAC II Tajuddin Md Isa said one of the men stood watch over
the family while his accomplices ransacked the house.
"After half an hour, the trio fled with the pistol, jewellery, branded
watches and cash in local and foreign currencies."
Tajuddin said the suspects were last seen running to the golf course behind
the house.
He said the family lodged a police report after untying themselves.
Police believe the robbers had gained entry to the gated housing estate
through the fence at the rear of the area.
They were also believed to have fled through the same fence, which separates
the housing estate from a construction site. |
