Building inspection cost not finalised
14/05/2007 NST

CYBERJAYA: The Treasury is still discussing the cost involved in the inspection of government buildings in Putrajaya with the parties involved.

Its secretary-general, Datuk Dr Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah, said this meant that the sum of RM22mil cited by Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu had yet to be finalised.

“We will have to carry out an internal building audit of all government complexes in Putrajaya before deciding on the final cost. Once discussions have been finalised, we will start the inspection right away,” he told reporters after presenting prizes to the winners of an angling competition at Cyberpark yesterday.

When asked if discussions would focus on reducing the cost, Dr Wan Abdul Aziz declined to comment.

The inspection was ordered by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi following several mishaps involving government buildings in the administrative capital and at the Jalan Duta court complex.
