City folk grill 11 agencies

KUALA LUMPUR: It was no surprise that Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Syabas and
Alam Flora officials were bombarded with questions at a meet-the-people
session yesterday.
For nearly two hours, they were grilled by representatives of 83 residents’
organisations.
This was the first meeting in three years and those gathered had a lot on
their minds.
Their questions ranged from delays in issuance of certificates of fitness to
untarred roads, clogged drains, uncollected rubbish and a lack of burial
grounds.
But representatives of the 11 agencies present were equal to the task,
providing clarifications where they could.
Public Complaints Bureau director-general Dr Chua Hong Teck said all
complaints and issues raised had been noted and would be compiled into a
report.
This will be sent to Federal Territories Minister Datuk Zulhasnan Rafique
for action.
The session was jointly organised by City Hall and the bureau.
The agencies represented were the police, Alam Flora Sdn Bhd, Syabas, Indah
Water Konsortium, Federal Territory Religious Department, Kuala Lumpur
Hospital, Information Ministry, Department of Environment and the Lands and
Mines Department.
Mutiara Magna Apartment residents’ association chairman, Ahashrap Khan Mohd
Aslam, said dialogues between residents and government agencies should be
held more often.
"There should not be such a long break between meetings. Meeting once every
four months would be good." |
