Going all out for strata titles

NEVER mind the dust.
The residents of United Garden in Old Klang Road are willing to do whatever
it takes to get their strata titles.
They are digging up old files to search for their Sales and Purchase
agreements which dates back to 24 years ago.
The agreements are among the documents they would use as evidence to support
their case in getting the titles.
These documents would be handed over to Sea Housing Sdn Bhd, a housing
developer.
Condominimum, Apartment and High Rise Committee vice-chairman Khong Chee
Seng said they were also in the midst of selecting the nine committee
members to represent the residents.
“By Monday, we will be submitting the documents to Sea Housing Sdn Bhd for
further action. We need to put together the relevant documents and make sure
nothing is being left out. We do not want another postponement of the case,”
Khong told The Malay Mail yesterday.
Khong said he would also send a letter to the Land Office to urge them to
start an inquiry into their case.
“I would like to meet the officials,” he said.
It was reported on May 16 that 667 residents questioned the absence of their
strata title despite paying RM546 each to facilitate the application for the
document.
The residents had moved into the nine-blocks of four-storey flats, formerly
known as Taman Lee Yan Lian, in 1970.
In 1983, they received letters from the then developer, United Housing Sdn
Bhd, advising them to pay RM546.
The sum paid by the residents totalling RM363,317.10 was said to cover the
surveyor’s and architect’s fees, as well as deposit to the Land Survey
Board.
The residents adhered to all instructions from the developer but little is
known on the strata title application.
They then turned to Khong for help. — |
