PROBLEMS faced by KLH apartment and
business owners remain unresolved despite a meeting last Saturday between
the authorities and the people.
Representatives from the Housing and Local Government Ministry, the
Selangor Land and Mines Department, Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) and
Kinrara assemblyman Dr Kow Cheong Wei’s office could not give residents and
business owners an affirmative answer to the issues raised.
Heading the list of issues was the flooding of the lower level parking
lots and the allocation of these parking lots to residents effective May 1.
Residents found it unacceptable and wanted the flooding problem to be
solved first, but KLH Plaza Sdn Bhd building and project manager Goh Chong
Tun reiterated that the flooding were not the fault of the developer and
maintained that it was due to the neighbouring plot of land under Unitek
Enterprise Sdn Bhd.

MPSJ building department technical assistant Azmi Maricar Ahmad said the
council is waiting for a land study report from Unitek before the council
decides who was at fault for the flooding.
The next issue was the privatisation of parking lot services that would
be implemented on common property.
The underground parking lots, which belong to the developer, would be
handed over to Kasipillay Parking Services effective May 1, but the
placement of the ticketing barriers at the road entrance were questioned by
residents because the road was listed as common property.
“Under Section 69 of the Strata Title Act, you cannot do business on
common property,” said KLH Apartments Residents Association chairman Chong
Kok Ken.
Selangor Land and Mines department representative Hashimah Akib said that
while the law did state the matter as such, the issue had to be debated
further with all relevant parties involved.
Goh also said cracks were appearing at the joining of both blocks and was
due to settlement of the apartment and the business centre, which had
different loads.
“The cracks are not a hazard,” said Goh.
MPSJ building department technical assistant Azmi Maricar Ahmad said the
council has issued instructions to KLH Plaza to give a certified letter
stating that studies have been done to ensure the building is safe and
remedial works are carried out on the cracks.
Dr Kow’s assistant Capt (R) Md Shobhi Mustakim urged residents to remain
calm and promised that the assemblyman’s office was open to the residents
and that their issues would be brought up at the various forums including
the state assembly.
