CF to be issued only when
sewerage gets green light

Mazalan: It is a minor technical problem.
THE certificate of fitness (CF) for the low cost flats at Section 26, Shah
Alam, will be issued after getting the green light from the Sewerage
Services Department.
Shah Alam mayor Mazalan Md Noor said the CF had not been issued earlier for
failing to meet the department's requirements.
“The building met all the other requirements, including design, but did not
meet the sewerage requirement.
“It is a minor technical problem and we do not see any problem issuing the
CF soon,” he said, adding that city council officers had carried out
inspections of the building earlier.
Mazalan was speaking after chairing the Shah Alam full board meeting on
Thursday.
The flat had attracted attention after a a five-year-old boy fell to his
death from the 11th floor recently.
The boy was believed to have stepped on a box left on the corridor, which
led to him falling off.
When asked whether the local authority could impose any ruling to prevent
residents from placing objects like the box in the corridor, which could
pose a threat to other residents especially children, Mazalan said the
premises does not belong to MBSA.
“The building is under the purview of the Syarikat Perumahan Negara so we do
not have the authority to impose such a ruling,” he said.
At the same time, Mazalan said the local council and the Petaling Land
Office will go down to meet operators of illegal factories in Kampung Baru
in efforts to legalise them.
“We are taking a pro-active role.
“We will bring the forms and explain the whole issue to them,” he said,
adding that the move was taken after complaints from the illegal factory
owners that it is taking a long time for them to get approval.
He said under the whitening programme, these factories would be given
special discounts on the premiums for their land in addition to other
incentives.
“One of the common problems they face is because some of them lease the land
from somebody else and the land owner is not interested in changing the land
status.
“Some of them could not come up with the premium charged,” he said.
Selangor has an estimated 3,000 illegal factories including those located in
areas under MBSA jurisdiction. |
