SHAH ALAM: A total of 15,181 Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK)
subscribers have been charged in court up to May this year for failing to
settle their arrears in unpaid bills.
IWK communications manager Shahrul Nizam Sulaiman said that following this,
6,555 of them settled their payments, with 38 of them paying in instalments.
“Those with arrears in unpaid bills can discuss with IWK on ways to settle
their payment to avoid legal action,” he said.
Shahrul said that most of those who were in arrears were commercial users in
the Klang Valley.
“There are also domestic consumers but the amount is lower,” he added.
IWK normally charges domestic consumers between RM2 and RM8 a month.
Shahrul said that until now there were still some quarters who claimed that
IWK did not provide sewerage services, when the company was actually
processing effluents from buildings and residential houses at sewage
treatment plants before the treated water was released into rivers.
He added that IWK would continue to organise activities to educate consumers
on the important role it played. – Bernama |
