Flats lacking facilities
23/08/2007 The Malay Mail (Hotline)
RESIDENTS of Impian Baiduri in Petaling Jaya claim that the facilities at
their flats leave much to be desired although they are paying monthly
maintenance fees.
“For the past six months, the lifts in Block B have not been functioning,”
says a resident, SEROJA.
“I am staying with my 82-year-old mother on the second floor, and it is
troublesome for her as she is not fit to walk up and down the stairs.”
SEROJA says residents pay RM45 for maintenance and RM4.50 towards the
sinking fund monthly.
“On behalf of the residents, I hope that the management will resolve the
problem soon.”
- A REPRESENTATIVE of Impian Baiduri management, who wishes to be known as
Aziz, says the root cause of the problem is widespread vandalism.
“Every day, there is bound to be a missing starter for one of the lift
lights and my staff has to replace them. At Block B, the roof panel of a
lift has gone missing,” says Aziz.
“We have 1,244 units and we don’t know who the vandals are. We can’t blame
anybody as we don’t have proof.
“We have done our best. We have organised an awareness campaign but nothing
has changed.
“One of the lifts in Block D has broken down. Somebody burnt the lift. One
lift costs RM45,000. Imagine the trouble we have to go through with the
insurance company to claim for damages.
“I hope that residents will use the facilities in a responsible manner.”
