Taman Daya folks still waiting
for land titles

RAWANG assemblyman Datuk Tang See Hang has given Developer Sedaya Sdn Bhd
three months to settle a Land Premium of about RM400,000 to ensure that over
1,500 land titles in Taman Daya, Kepong, would be given to residents.
Tang attended a meeting together with residents and newly appointed Gombak
District Land Office district officer Huzaini Samsi at his office last
Friday to resolve the issue, as residents claim they had yet receive their
land titles after more than 20 years.
Tang said he had given enough chances for the developer to settle the Land
Premium that was due in February this year.
Waiting patiently: Residents waiting outside the Gombak District Land Office
for the meeting to be over.
“I will bring up this matter at the Selangor Exco meeting and suggest that
if the developer does not comply with the terms, the State government will
repossess the land, The Gombak District Land Office could issue the title
only if the premium is paid,” he said.
According to Tang, a representative from the developer was present at the
meeting and claimed that residents owed the developer some RM700,000 in
maintenance fees.
Tang said that if the developer pays the premium, he would assure it that
residents would pay their maintenance fees.
The Taman Daya Residents Association chairman Tan Chong Leng said that many
residents refused to pay the maintenance fees because they had not received
their land titles.
“However, there are some who paid the maintenance fee for the last 19 years
and did not pay last year because of this issue.
“What residents here want is to have their land titles so they would have no
problem in the future,” said Tan.
Huzaini, who has only been in office a month, said if the developer pays the
premium, the land titles should be issued within the next six months.
A crowd of about 200 had gathered outside the Gombak District Land Office to
protest against the issue and await the outcome of the meeting.
After the meeting, Tang called them into the meeting room and told them the
good news.
Resident Jeffrey Tan, 30, said that a 20-year wait for a land title is long
time for any resident.
“We want the Gombak District Land Office and the developer to solve this
problem,” he said. |
