THE Federal Territories Ministry will soon introduce a new initiative that
will enable residents’ associations in Kuala Lumpur play a bigger role in
City Hall’s development programmes.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique, said the initiative, which will
be called Strategic Development Plan, would ensure more effective execution
of development programmes for the benefit of residents.
He said this during the ‘Lifestyle in the City’ seminar held in Genting
Highlands recently.
Zulhasnan said through the new plan, residents’ associations could play an
active role by voicing out their ideas to the government and departments
within the City Hall.
To facilitate such involvement, he advised city folk to form and have their
residents’ associations registered and their accounts properly established.
At the seminar, Zulhasnan also presented RM5,000 each to 28 residents’
associations to run their activities.
The financial support was the first of its kind from the ministry to the
associations.
To be entitled to the fund, associations need to be registered, have their
accounts in order and produce their annual list of activities.
