KEPALA BATAS: Thirteen angry house buyers moved into their dream homes in
Taman Abdullah Fahim here despite not having the keys and certificates of
fitness (CF).
They removed a barricade at one of housing scheme’s entrances and started
unloading things from their cars into the open units.
All the 89 double-storey terrace units were recently completed after a
three-year delay.
The house buyers’ spokesman Imran Adnan, 38, said the developer had yet to
apply for the CF due to not fulfilling certain requirements from the
authorities.
“Enough is enough! We are moving into our houses despite not having the CF
as we are fed up with waiting this long.
“The Penang Water Supply Corporation Sdn Bhd (PBAPP) and Tenaga Nasional Bhd
(TNB) have released water and electricity supply respectively to our units,”
he said as the buyers moved into their units here yesterday.
Imran said a Seberang Prai Municipal Council official told him that the
units had passed the necessary technical requirements set by the local
authorities.
“So we believe our units are safe to be occupied,” he said.
Rosli Md Radzi, 42, a teacher, said he had been servicing the housing loan
since 2005 as well as paying rental for his current residence.
He added that the units were between RM145,000 and RM220,000 each.
Grandmother Hasmah Hashim, 54, said she had wanted to celebrate Hari Raya in
her new house since 2004.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rashid Abdullah, when contacted
yesterday, said the state government allowed the buyers to move into their
units after finding that the buildings were safe.
“But the developer must expedite applying for the CF,” he said.
The developer could not be reached for comment. |
